1. A set of resistance bands

These bands come in handy for warm-ups, rehab, prehab, travel, and just adding a little extra "oomph" to your weight-training workout! Not to mention, they are the perfect add-on to any at-home or outdoor bodyweight workout.

2. Trigger point systems

A system like this provides the tools you need for self-applied myofascial release and deep tissue massage. Use it to help you both manage day-to-day aches and pains of the body and keep your muscles performing at their best.

3. Over-the-door speed bag

Create more speed, improve your hand-eye coordination, and get a killer arm and shoulder workout-- at home! An over-the-door speed bag is the perfect addition to any athlete or avid gym-goer's home.

4. Stainless steel insulated bottles/tumblers

Hydro Flask ^^

Much more durable than a plastic bottle and the ability to keep your drinks cold for 24 hours (or hot for up to 6)-- this seems like a no-brainer for the fitness lover in your life that always has his/her water in-tow!

5. Kettle Gryp

Turn any dumbbell into a kettlebell with this one little gadget! Easy to store and easy to pack/travel with, this will give you the ability to reap the benefits of a variety of kettlebells-- without hurting your wallet!

6. Fat Gripz

Know anyone that wants to build bigger, stronger arms? Then get them a set of these! Fat Gripz can be attached to any standard dumbbells, barbells, or cable handles to create a wider grip, thus recruiting more muscle fibers and creating more muscle activation! Aka, helping build bigger, stronger muscles...

7. Worm-Massage foam roller

Think foam roller and massage/trigger point balls in one, convenient (travel-friendly) pack! This roller can be used all over the body to release tension in joints and muscles and combat stiffness. Did I mention it's compact size??

8. Microfiber cooling towel

Getting hot and sweaty? If you, or someone near and dear to your heart, loves a good, sweaty workout, then this towel is the perfect gift. Get it wet, and it instantly becomes cool! So, wet it with sweat or with water and let it get to work, leaving you cool and refreshed.

Bonus fun fact: it's a favorite of Serena Williams!

9. The Mindful Athlete

George Mumford is credited for helping Michael Jordan lead the Bulls to six NBA championships through his mindfulness coaching. In this Best Seller book, he teaches readers the techniques necessary for tapping into the mindful state necessary to transform performance and unleash athletic potential.

10. Wrist wraps

Give your wrists extra support during big lifts, prevent wrist strain, and enhance your grip with a set of wrist-wraps. GASP is a durable brand with plenty of stiffness to keep wrists safe and lifts heavy!

11. Seamless sportswear

Seamless leggings ^^

Who am I kidding? I’d take any sportswear as a gift, but seamless is one of my personal favorites! Lightweight, smooth, and incredibly comfortable- not to mention they fit all body types. Typically these goods can run pretty pricey, but thanks to Target’s new JoyLab line, I’ve been snagging more pieces at very reasonable prices, and you should, too! ...Either for yourself or that fitness enthusiast friend/family member of yours.

(...and while you’re there, check out more of Target’s athletic gear, they’re not only an athliesure-addicts best friend, but they pretty much all meet my “under $40” criteria!)

12. Compression gear

Compression gear (such as these men's compression tights ^ ) are being worn by everyone, from the pros to the “joes”, and for good reason. Compression helps with circulation and can increase performance levels among many athletes. It supports major muscle groups to help them function more efficiently. This gear also allows the muscles to recover faster through the elimination of waste such as lactic acid.

13. ...and, for those just starting to dip their toes (or in this case, fingers) in the fitness world…

Merry Liftsmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!

May your days be merry and bright, and shopping be easy... and almost done now!!

MARIA'S FITNESS TIPS

#1

Set goals! Set both long and short-range goals to keep yourself motivated. Be sure that the short-range goals will eventually lead you to your big-picture, long-range ones. Consider them stepping stones on the path towards something bigger.

#2

Do what you like to do. Don't just start doing something because everyone else is; find what you truly enjoy and do that. In the end, if you don't have a genuine interest in your workouts and lifestyle, you're going to hinder your progress.

#3

Switch things up! I know this may sound kind of funny after just reading #2, but as humans, we can get bored of doing the same thing over and over. As well, our muscles can get "bored" and we can plateau. Do not be afraid to try new things and incorporate change to keep you entertained and your muscles guessing!
